I’d be interested in a neutral tint L6 with desert tan and black coloring, tan being the predominant color. But I’d also be just fine with all black if it had a NW emitter.

9V MT-G2, they come in 6V, 9V, and 36V variations.
The 12V XHP-70 requires a specialized mcpcb that has the dies in 2S2P arrangement. It’s the same die, just wired differently on the mcpcb. The 6V XHP-70 mcpcb looks pretty much like any other star with long electrical connections on either side of the thermal pad. The 12V XHP-70 mcpcb has short sections on each side and has jumper pads in order to wire the 4 dies differently. I don’t like that one because the traces all seem very skinny, but I guess it takes lower current at higher voltage so perhaps it’s all the same?
Yeah, I understand that part about the 12v XHP70 but what about out put? I like the idea of higher voltage lower current, higher out put like you described about the MT-G2 like 900 lumens more, but would you get that or more out of a 12v XHP70? Say 1000-1200 lumens or more? Because some claim 6000 lumens out of a hard driven 6v (8,4) XHP70, so could it be possible 7000-7200 lumens out of a 12v XHP70?
as a reckless data point. I have an experimental light 3s using 3×14500 that I use direct drive to drive a 6v xhp70. works like a champ. the emitter can take it. or maybe using wimpy 14500 has enough voltage drop that it is still safe from turning angry blue.

So for all those interested (including myself) I am talking to Simon about making accommodations for the MT-G2 at least in the host form. Personally I’d love to see a clear anodized L6 with a nice neutral MT-G2. One step at a time though. Let’s get some of the L6 out there and start tinkering before we decide where this journey should go next.

Yeah… I would love that an MT-G2 variant would be offered as well.
Or else a NW version of the xhp-70 be made available.
Pretty sure that’s what JDub is working for, to get an excellent user light that needs no modifications, ready to go and work hard, right out of the box.
If it ends up that Simon can’t source a NW or hCRI XHP70, how many people would be interested in one? I know I would, and Cutter has them, but the shipping (at least in the standard checkout menu) is $25usd. If there are enough interested, it could ease the pain a bit to share the shipping costs.
Unfortunately it seems they’re out of stock on the bare emitters, but they have some that are mounted in stock. They’ve got plenty of nice tint options, too, including 4000k, 4674k, and 5000k.
If we have em located, why couldn’t Simon simply purchase what he needs direct from the source? Pay shipping once.
I DHL’ed a package to China early this month for a cool $100. Shipping was more than double the price of the light in the box. Even with a 30% off discount, it was still $68. Just saying. I mean, y’all ARE wanting him to build the light THISYEAR, right?
Edit: Wondering too, just how many might be needed? 50? 100? 200? Anybody here gonna order 200 expensive emitters then forward them on with additional shipping costs? Doing business get’s complicated, a business can do things Internationally that an individual might have trouble pulling off. Customs, shipping, time delays, all sorts of issues crop up.

I was speaking in terms of swapping my own emitter…if needed.
High CRI and neutral XHP50 are definitely available for purchase on Taobao. So XHP70s must be there too. So I'm wondering what exactly Simon's problem is?
My primary goal here absolutely is for Convoy to deliver an excellent out-of-the-box light. I’ve mentioned many times that I myself cannot mod a flashlight so you better believe I’m looking out for those like me. Obviously I keep all the modders in mind too as that’s what BLF is all about. He (Simon) sounds a little iffy on the MT-G2 thing but he hasn’t said no. I’ll keep everyone posted.
Well, if you guys do manage to get either and preferably both high CRI and NW emitter I’d be really interested in this light.
How quick of a double tap to strobe? I often find myself cycling through modes on my Lumintop SD75 (which I’d love to replace supplement with this light with high CRI) and often ending up in strobe mode, which I almost never want.

I never liked the UI of the SD75 so I swapped it with one of 18sixfifty’s modded lights!

Thanks load J
Hope it all goes to plan
In for one am happy with whichever XHP70 he uses
I take back my +1 on using cutter
I’m very happy to do what I can and I appreciate your understanding. I thoroughly enjoy this. As awesome as Convoy is, Simon is still doing most of this himself with the help of a handful of workers to help him assemble. He doesn’t have the financial backing of a big company. He’s just a guy that started his own flashlight business. He worked for an LED encapsulation company before all this which is where the flashlight spark probably took hold. He’s done well but when it comes to business in China he is still a small player. Buying LEDs from Cutter simply would not be an option. We will keep steadily moving forward but I must ask for a bit of patience from the BLF community. I thank you all for supporting Convoy. Simon is a cool guy who started an excellent (IMHO) flashlight company and through an unexpected chain of events I find myself here. It’s given me an opportunity to play a role in the flashlight world that I never expected and I like it here!

I think a lot of us here appreciate Simon, Convoy, and you. We all have our wishes and dreams about some super light that could be possible. Don’t worry, we will come back down to reality eventually, but we want to dream first.

Right on! Thank you. This light would not exist without the wishes, dreams and valuable input of BLF members. Each dream should be bigger. I’m enjoying the ride. Dream on!

how about we buy and have them shipped to Simon? then he installs it

Words can be broken,
so can bones.
digikey has some nice high cri xhp70 leds for decent price in US.
+1…I was just looking at that. Also, DigiKey’s shipping price is a lot better than Cutter’s.
Look at DigiKey’s shipping price to China.

Hello! I already ordered two pieces VAPPOWER 26650 5200mAh 20A 3.7V Li-Ion Rechargeable Battery.
So I am ready for the L6. When will Simon be ready to take the first orders?
Very interesting question!
Dont ask HAHA
Right Mukcep?
Just be patient
