Group buy: Jaxman Z1 host [THREAD CLOSED BY ADMIN]

J Team is pleased to announce it’s first project. No commission for us. We just want a good deal without drama here.

Interest List
Accessories
Technical Information
Ordering Information and Prices

The availability of a Jaxman Z1 host, for BLFers with the skills necessary to build their own flavour of zoomie, using their choice of LED and driver.

This torch is not normally available in host form. Many of you will be familiar with it, if only by reputation, in particular for the excellent optical performance provided by the multicoated aspheric lens, and it’s first class build quality.

The lens will be carefully packed, in pristine condition, for you to fit during final assembly.

Spare parts will be available, in small quantities, should you require.

This is a mature product, refined over the years, by several design improvements, now on it’s Mark 5 edit: Mark 4 version.

Included with the host will be an unpopulated Jaxman driver PCB. With some ingenuity you could use this as a transition board, e.g. to fit a smaller diameter driver into the 22mm pill.

The pill can accommodate a standard 20mm*1.6mm MCPCB and LED.

The host accepts one 26650 cell (or 18650 using a suitable adapter). An extension tube is also available to fit a second one in series.

Ten pieces are ready, for the first to express interest. These are not prototypes, they are full production items, taken from the line, for us.

We would like to see these allocated to experienced modders, who can build them up quickly, and post their experiences, and photos, on this thread. Lets see what you can do with this !

So please only ask for them, if you plan to do so.

We will take note of any feedback.

We would like to see interest from at least 100 people, for the main buy, so please put your names down soon. Specify whether you want to be one of the first ten (and why), or are interested in one, or more, from the production run.

Production can start very quickly, Jaxman are prepared.

The host will be supplied directly from Suichow Jaxman Electronics Co.,Ltd www.jaxman.net using their Aliexpress store.

You can visit it now, to see the standard production Z1 items.

XML2 version single cell.

XHP50 version 2 cells in series.

The price for the host will be $35.50 edit: $32.50, plus delivery.

Delivery charge is estimated to be $7,50 (for a 0.5kg package from China to USA. not to all locations). The fees may be different but they are decided by Ali, not Jaxman.

Edit, links updated.
Edit, price updated

For 35 bucks at least throw in a working driver or I’m out. I feel this should be more like 25 dollars if it is just a host.

You checked the price of a fully assembled one? I have seen hosts sold for $8 less then a full light, those were simple, very simple hosts
This is a lot cheaper and is a very complex host where the prime part (that beauty lens) comes extra well packaged. Very nice touch!

RMM has a uf1405 host for sale at 27.99 and he is making money at that price. Just saying.

Yes and from what I have seen in the Cometa threads the UF1504/1405 is not in the same league as a Jaxman
And from my own experiences, my Cometa with clone housing bad zooming threadings is a better host then the Uniquefire 1504, just comparing them objectively. The UF1504 is nice, but more rattling.
(besides a UF1405 retails from about $32, making the host $5 cheaper, making this jaxman Z1 look like an even better deal ;))

I read it as “the board is there so we can use a standard 17 of 20mm driver if we don’t want to use a 22mm driver”

Solar, I don’t quite understand the reason’s for your post’s.

This GB is for a JAXMAN Z1 host.
The OP tells exactly what is included.
The price is $35.50 plus shipping.
This is not a negotiation.
It is what it is.

You either want one or don’t.
If you do say so.
If you don’t… nothing negative need be said. It is simply useless noise.

Please put me in for two [ 2 ].

While I would be pleased to have them from the first 10 and could “build them up quickly”…… I do not have the time to post my experiences, videos, and/or photos in a timely manner on this thread.

That being said, it will be my pleasure to wait and be part of the next 100.

Thank you J Team & Jaxman!!!!! Thumbs Up .. Smile

The build quality is nowhere near the Z1. The Z1, like other Jaxman products, is an incredibl nicely made light.

For many modders – I guess – this is no problem since improving lights is fun. Non-modders apparently prefer complete lights.

I would love 1 of the hosts from the first 10. I was having cigars and scotch with some of my friends last night, and everyone wanted to try out my modded Z1.

I’ll probably be wanting a few more in a few weeks. Probably 2 or 3 more to possibly build and sell to my buds.

Edit: J Team, when you get your house in order, I may consider buying another one.

teacher , I was merely expressing my opinion. I have read the post and understand the English writing not the Chinese. Maybe you could interpret that?
I’m not looking for negotiation. How much did this host cost to manufacture? I’m guessing 10 dollars tops. If you feel that is a deal (as long as it is not the first 100 made) then by all means- it’s your money. Would you even know how to populate a bare driver?
What did I say that is negative? I was pointing out that an established American supplier has a zoomie for less money. No need for flames and that is not useless noise. This is Budget Light Forum. Get it?
And no, I have no practical use for a zoomie other than it’s just a toy to play with.

My guess would be…. you would not want to. Facepalm
Which is probably why it was made crystal clear in the OP this Group Buy was “for BLFers with the skills necessary to build their own flavour of zoomie,”…..
I mean, how much clearer could he have made that??

That will be one hellova light with exchangeable 6V LEDs…

Love that aspheric.

I’ve always liked the look of this one, not so much the zoomie aspect. At this price and as a host, I just have to… (ordered the X1 just yesterday… Wink )

J Team,
Please see Post 16 .
If the first 10 do not get spoken for, feel free to go ahead and send the two I requested.
I can do the build and written review in a timely manner…. but the photos and video would have to be added later.
Thank you…. Thumbs Up

Not getting this, but how much better is the machining compared to the Cometa? Specifically the zooming threads… any chance for a comparison video?

I only ask as I would get a couple of these later possibly if the machining is that much better, but only a 20-30% tighter zoom is not worth the price difference to me. You still have another $20 to drop in this light between the driver and LED

I'd like to be on the list for one of the first 10. I have one from October 2014, with the extra tube, and resistor modded stock driver, dedomed LED, and would like to see how this new generation one differs, and how it performs with a custom FET+1 driver, and decent dedomed LED, fully modded up of course.

Really like they are including a lens cover now.

If you guys are so inclined to answer questions, you mention in the OP this is the Mark 5 version and there are several design improvements. Do you know what some of those improvements have been?

Also, some of the pics in the OP show the old name of "JAX", so I guess we can't be sure those are accurate because they probably would not be from the latest Mark 5 version?

Awful lot of idle chatter for this being an interest Group Buy post.

The optic alone here is worth over $35, with AR coating on the inside and AF coating on the outside that repels water, dust and fingerprints. The test sheet from the Optics Manufacturer is shown, with a transmission in excess of 98%. With the size of this optic, I’d expect the glass alone to be $75 or more. Look up Edmunds Optics and see what you can find if in doubt. The build quality of the host, the level of the anodization, this is an exceptional bargain.

As has been said, if you want one say yes and get on the short list. If not, there’s really no need to say anything at all. This is a group buy offered directly from the manufacturer. A first, I believe. No need to make it confusing with a lot of off topic chatter.

Thank you Jaxman for a splendid offering.
