I ordered two of each tint in black at the $7 price point. I derped and paid without doing the message seller+wait for price change thing. Now here is hoping for quick shipping.
theres nothing to “get in “ on as far as I can see. I don’t get why there was some“list” crated in the first place it meant absolutely nothing. they got a cpl hundred made and put them on Ali . there was no effort made to accommodate this forum that I can see.
You go to Aliexpress and try and get one on your own.
this is the typical “run around like chicken with head cutoff” routine I have seen dozens and dozens of times with things like this.
For someone that has just arrived it seems that you are lacking some reading…
The main objective is that the flashlight will be developed and that is being cared of and the interest list is for Sofirn to get an idea how wanted this light is.

This is a remarkable attitude towards what has happened in the development of this flashlight….
This flashlight was initiated here on BLF, a manufacturer was found to make it, throughout the extremely fast (3 months!) design to production process contact was maintained by Sofirn with BLF while listening to and incorporating advice from BLF members. All the way during the process 100% of the risk of putting money into designing a flashlight that may not sell was at the manufacturer, not us and still they trusted every design change that we asked for.
AFAIC, this is as accomodating to the forum as has never been seen before.
(As MascaratumB already pointed out and was emphasized many times in the past three months, the list was to be regarded as an interest list to gain Sofirns trust that what we were designing would not put them at a loss. The format of a group buy based on the list was only decided on two weeks ago. A group buy process not going smooth is nothing new and usually has more to do with imperfect organisation than with the bad intention that you suggest)
not saying there was a master plot or conspiracy. Just stating I have seen the same confusion and running back and forth routine before with this sort of thing. and I wasn’t aware it was an “interest” thread only . someone mentioned things were being kept track of and people were stating specific quantities and colors. and now it seems to be a “get ‘em if you can catch them” situation which is fine. I will keep looking around for them to show up.
sorry if my attitude offended people not my intention .
and not a Troll. not seeking to argue. Im done talking and will explore the site some more.
Keep your name calling to yourself thank you .
Check both MarcaratumB’s reply and mine, we did not call you names, please do not suggest that thank you.
+1 !!! Never called a name to anyone! I just pointed out the obvious lack of overall knowledge and understanding of this thread and work on the Sofirn C01, in face of the above mentioned posted words! Therefore, I pointed out the post that explains how things are working!
I do hope the new batch (black first, and then the colours) arrive soon so that all the people interested in this light can get it!
Too much confusion comes from not reading the thread (despite it is long, sometimes it worths it) and not knowing how things are going!
I hope you can get your light(s) warmtint123 as all the members interested on it/them. :ARROW-RIGHT:
I am waiting for the colored versions. Meanwhile I watch and learn from the experiences of “early adopters” so when the time comes for me to buy I am prepared.
I’ve continued to ask to pay for the lights I ordered but never paid for.
It’s rather confusing over there. Most recent replies said:

That’s the first order I made for 2 lights, also showing at Ali as shipped, not as awaiting payment.
I need to send somebody that “shut up and take my money” cartoon?
I keep asking them to let me pay and nothing happens.
Well, I went to the Ali orders page and extended the processing time on my orders —- Ali disagrees with Sofirn and shows my four C01 flashlight orders as all “awaiting shipment” — hoping they don’t cancel them for delayed shipment since it appears the process is quite confused. Time will tell.
Maybe the delay is because they ran out.
I wish they’d make these in orange as well as blue and red.
I like orange flashlights (e.g. the BLF Astrolux A01); easy to find in the earthquake kit.
EDIT: omigod, one order for 2 lights just changed to “awaiting delivery” … sooooo confused.
I’d guess I triggered a bug in the Ali payment system and they reported to Sofirn receiving payments that I didn’t make. Call the accountants!!
I’ve been following this discussion for a while now, and I’m looking forward to grabbing a couple of these lights – maybe once the confusion has died down a little though!
I feel like the timing of the product launch alongside 11.11 may have been a little unfortunate, especially with special instructions which require manual intervention…
So should there be some sort of “gentleman’s agreement” between those of us who have succesfully completed our orders and those that haven’t to try and make sure everyone gets one before stock runs out again? I know there’s enough to go around for everyone on the list, but it’d be nice for everyone to get at least 1 shipped out to them sooner rather than later.
Check both MarcaratumB’s reply and mine, we did not call you names, please do not suggest that thank you.
As was just told to me by PM there was a post calling you a troll and that post was deleted so quickly that both MascarstumB and I never knew it had ever been there. I now understand that is what you responded on, and not our posts. Your comment makes more sense to me now.
What is the track record of these GB lights in the later stages of delivery as far as genuine OEMLEDS, circuitry, exact same parts as the first run (etc.)? I would care less for a few bucks off if I had some kind of sense that the very first run of lights being reviewed were basically the ones to get while each subsequent run…well…read your history books.

They were “..at Brandywine, Germantown, Monmouth, and every major skirmish, and battle all the way to Yorktown..” where they fought “the most important part of the siege” according to General Steuben. These guys saw action in every one of the original 13 colonies.

According to Sofirn, the Yuji LEDs these are using have been discontinued. After this, they definitely will have to use a different LED if they choose to keep making this light.
Not sure about the rest of your concerns though.
EDIT: To avoid future confusion by my post, there will be 1,000 of each tint made, so 2,000 lights with the Yuji LEDs. Once all of those sell out, I’m sure if Sofirn continues to make the light with another LED, the description will reflect the change, no bait and switch.

A nice idea in theory but I’ve already seen this light getting posted around other forums so it’s every flashaholic for himself.

Thanks for clearing that up for me as I was trying to figure out where these GBs have evolved to in terms of folks clamoring to get their names on a list that doesn’t even guarantee the LED being used.
If you’ve been around this craze from the beginnings this would have been unheard of back then..yet to be fair…unprotected and protected cells are now being called “the same thing” without a peep of argument otherwise so the bar has obviously been lowered an awful long ways in terms of expectations and even general knowledge.
Times are good in China as related to what the rest of the world expects and their (new) standards in general.

Thanks for the clarification djozz! Never saw the comment!
I hope we’re all good now
I wonder if that’s intended to rule out PP intervention if there’s a problem with an order.
Oh, well, there’s always filing a complaint with the credit card company.
I never had any problem with aliexpress support. Had a few situations where I received damaged product or it simply didn’t arrive and even if seller was trying not to refund my money aliexpress always ruled out full refund after opening dispute.
I never pay with PayPal. There is an option of using polish market-specific services (przelewy24, PayU) that work kind of like PP but are much more flexible and do not require sending detailed personal data to them in order to make any payment, I do use these usually but never had to contact them to get my issues resolved.
In aliexpress I also do not pay with Paypal because of the fees. Aliexpress has a convenient enough option to pay with Ideal, which is a common dutch paying system. It does not have the customer protection system that Paypal has so I only do smallish payments this way. Very large payments I would do with a credit card, but that hardly ever happened sofar.

As of this AM they are all sold out. Guess we have to wait till the rest of the build arrives. Any ETA on when that might be?
You don't really need a parachute to skydive. But you DO need one if you want to skydive twice!
I am waiting for the colored versions. Meanwhile I watch and learn from the experiences of “early adopters” so when the time comes for me to buy I am prepared.
Will any of the future inventory go to their Amazon US store at a reasonable price?
I just received an email saying my light has shipped.
Now for the fun part, the wait for the slow boat.
I don’t think it’s PayPal fee. Mine said marketplace fee
I’ve continued to ask to pay for the lights I ordered but never paid for.

Mine shipped. Looking forward to arrival.
I wish Sofirn build a website to take orders after this knowing they build what we want, we will buy.

It's a toll Ali takes on PayPal payments. nothing to do with Paypal but only with Ali trying to make you use their own pay thing.

parkerdude – to be clear I’m not interested in 6 lights, I couldn’t find my name on this list and signed up again. Just 3.
parkerdude 0; 3 , please disregard entry 1476.
