Getting back on subject… I wonder if sofirn would ever offer SC31 pro with LH351D rather than SST-40. I’d rather sacrifice a few short-lived turbo lumens for better cri and tint. Wurkkos FC11 has that option but you don’t get Anduril.

More nitpicking: the ‘31pro could be shorter. The IF25 uses a 27100, has usb-c, and is still shorter than the ‘31pro. I’d like to see either a slimmer IF25 or a shorter SC31.

Wise words. More cri because there is already enough lumens. Shocked
Not always, but yes.

The SC31 Pro is 1/2” longer but I’m pretty sure it HAS to be… due to heat sinking requirements. I have some time behind both these lights and have found setting a ramping limit is easier than burning my hand Flat Stare

They are both really sweet, bright and pretty long throwing lights… for about 90 seconds (WHEN on full turbo!). But if the SC31 Pro was shorter even more heat would have to go into your hand.

If anything, I’d ADD mass to the IF25a so it could run full turbo for longer (and throttle back LESS after heating up).

And with the SC31 Pro, I’d put a regulated driver in that puppy (with Anduril still) and instead of super hot turbo (for a few minutes before it heads quickly down to 300 lumen continuous)… have it run for hours at closer to 500 lumens (of course I have no idea if any of this is doable, but I prefer my SP32aV2’s VERY close turbo with a higher sustained output using its regulated driver).

I A/B’ed the SC31 Pro in a 6.5k tint with my SP32aV2 5.7k tint last month (while reviewing another light). I honestly liked the SP’s lower tint and it ALMOST kept up with the SC in throw… at turn on. But after they both heated up (and throttled down), the SP held its own and the tint was better. It was as bright if not brighter than the SC after about 3 minutes (and then it will stay that bright as it’s regulated).

All cool lights, some just do different things better than others do. Choose you poison and have fun! Silly

Some of the length is from the lanyard tailcap, swapped mine with the sc31b standard tail

The SC31 Pro is well built but the heat fins edges are sharp and the anodizing is showing wear on those edges. Also, the glue used in the bezel is strong enough that I’m unable to unscrew the head without special tools.

How about we get some movement on the rotary tube light djozz is collecting interest in. Considering the sc31 can be 80% recycled for this light and the SD05 already exists with a mag ring ui, why the reservation in making this a reality? With the popularity of low lumen C01x lights here there’s no reason a 500 lumen light won’t sell heavily, especially if it uses 7135s that can be stacked for the modders here.

How many interested users could do such a mod? I’d certainly ruin the light by trying it.

By maxing out the luminance Sofirn could sell it to the masses. Granny wouldn’t mind if 500 or 1200 lumens I presume.

The SC31Pro is available in 2 tints: 5000K and 6500K as listed here in their store. On Amazon US though, there's only the 6500K option.

Here it is, on pg 18: https://www.cree.com/led-components/media/documents/XLampXMBL.pdf

Here it is to buy: https://www.cutter.com.au/product/xmlbwt-00-0000-000us30e8/

It's an XM-L2 in the S3 bin, 2700K min of 90 CRI.

To be honest I don’t think it really matters. Not every light needs to be maxed out on lumens. Seriously. Those on this particular lights interest list are ‘IN’ for a light with max 500 or so lumens. Want more from it? Mod it or buy any other of the heap of flashlights available with skin scalding 30 second lumen values.

A diffuser for IF25 would be welcomed accessory.

Also an 18350 body tube for LT1/Q8

I don’t see the demand for this beyond a handful a people. 18350s are hard to come by, button top 18350s even more so. You’d be sacrificing 2/3rds of the run time for a couple hundred grams. If it’s weight you’re after, you can run the lt1 with just one cell.

I do like that stubby look though Big Smile

Has anyone tried the Sofirn cree xml2 weapon mounted light yet? It looks nearly identical to the tlr-1. I cant find any reviews.

Id like the SC31 Pro in Blue, Tan, and Green. I’d also like a SP40 Pro with Anduril

I wish they had used an OP reflector for the SC31 Pro. The SST-40 has bad tint shift and looks like ass in a smooth reflector. I swapped in an LH351D for a better beam. I feel like an OP reflector stock would have made the SST-40 tolerable. The reflector from the FC11 is OP and the right size, but the opening for the LED is smaller so it won’t work.

Woah! My SP36 with LH351D’s has been waiting for “something” to make it again useful for my use and soon I have nice lantern for indoor and for camping use.. Also I’m probably moving in few months so what could be better lantern than that before I get all the lights on the ceiling and helping around in old place.

Maybe they will soon release SP36 to Pro upgrade kit too. Wanting those XHP50.2’s at 5000k or lower into this.

It is not very easy to remove SP36 reflector. There are two screws which hold it under the head. You must first remove PCB of driver. So it not will be very easy swap. I have SP36 host when Sofirn sell them, so I can see whole construction easily. Screw in the middle hold MCPCB to the reflector.

Bummer. Still good to know. Thanks for pic too. Now I can start looking for some other multiemitter XHP50.2 or 70.2 soda can light. Maybe I should get that Lumintop GT3 which I almost got at one point, but decided to wait a bit.

Still SP36 will be a nice lantern. Blushing

Received the TF84, having only seen one youtube review for it.

https://sofirnlight.com/sofirn-tf84-c07-true-tactical-flashlight-lh351d-...

Firstly, the tint is very nice as well as direct access to turbo and low.

Overall, it’s a nice light, but was wondering if they would consider a few changes in v2.

Change the hold to turn off to one click to turn off – it’s simpler

Change tail pedal switch to instant low instead of strobe. If you really insist on keeping the strobe keep that function in tactical mode, but in daily mode please remove it; i honestly have no need for strobe.

Also, i do think the lumens are bit low, compared to the size of the head. I think it could perhaps be driven to closer to 2000 lumens for turbo?
