COMETA _ Questions - Possible Answers... a look back

COMETA _ Questions - Possible Answers

While sitting around yesterday nursing a severely sprained ankle I decided to read back through the original Cometa thread in it’s entirety…. Wow, that took a while. :person_facepalming:

I know many of you, including myself; have had certain questions. We have either asked them, or hoped someone else would; in order to receive an answer… Some have been answered, some have not it appears.

During my marathon read of the thread yesterday, I think I found a few of my own answers. I made some notes & I didn’t take any shortcuts. Below you will see a list of posts in the thread that were of some interest to me. Now it’s a long list, but it is not even close to the length of the original thread. It is in order and easy to navigate…… just click on the link if you care to read it.

I would indeed recommend reading every post I have listed by the original ‘Cometa Team’, that appears to have been Cyberescudo, Banggood, and possibly bugsy36 although I found no post from him past the end part of February . If I have left anyone out or gotten anything wrong in this statement, I do apologize.

The other post I have provided link’s to also have some very good info, I found a few answers there as well as verification to other answers.

The links I made ‘BOLD’ provided especially good information to me, as do those with a [ * ]. In fact the 7 BOLD links answered the majority of my answers. YMMV however.

Anyway, I hope this helps some of you. It very possibly will…… if you take a small bit of time to read. The work has been done far you, all you have to do is click on the link………………….

Best regards…… :+1:

OK you try to male it easy to find things?
A summary why you use these posts as with some could help there.
Why is a message of me bold? It is a plug for the Q-team? Thanks.

posts 56, 57, and 67 show that the light was to be manufactured by Jaxman. Nothing new there. We all know the light was hyped to us as being made by Jaxman. It was in the OP, and later was deleted from the OP.
I was cautious anyway, after being burned on so many GBs, and only bought one of the 4 I had wanted. I am one of those whose finger was burned by the hot Cometa spring.
How did this happen ? There’s a lot we don’t know. Why did Manker make the light ?
Was Neal told to use Jaxman, but instead used Manker. ?
Was the Jaxman build plan just a Big Lie from the beginning ?
What’s the connection between Kronos and cyberescuedo ? Are they the same guy ?

At this point, I can only view Manker as a group of Keystone Kop type of goofballs,
who, unfortunately for the rest of the world, have access to a flashlight factory.

I would like to see Neal Banggood find someone new to make the Astrolux Brand. No one on Earth could do worse than what Manker has done.
— George— do not quote me !! Thx.

Here we go again :person_facepalming:

I said it above The Miller……… easy to find and navigate, in order of posting.
The ones I listed were helpful to me… if they were not helpful to me I did not list them. If yours was BOLD… it was extremely helpful

Good post tarver! I see you feel the same way as many in the links above do. Maybe there is something to it, but far from me to decide that.
Excellent post & well said too. :+1: Point well made.

All due respect, why would you even say that??
It has nothing to do with this thread.

I am long “over it”. When do people get some answers?

And please note I am not “saying” anything here. I have simply made reference to what others have said.

And as far as I know no one is making you read this thread.
Why don’t you just skip over it if you have nothing beneficial to add and let the thread progress if anyone does find it beneficial

“t-word & meds”, ha-haa… your getting desperate.

Thank you! There is nothing to be “ticked off” about by anyone. But like you said, replying while “ticked off” is a bad idea for anyone.

I don’t see why anyone would want to reply here anyway…. it is not like anything new has been brought to light.
It was simply put in a cleaner format easier to understand.

Your attempted attack mystifies me to be quite honest……. :frowning:

I try to stay out of the fray as much as possible, but why the double account accusations? THAT certainly doesn’t add anything constructive.

G'Day teacher,

By again endorsing our resident trainee troll Tarver's statement in its entirety you ARE antagonising other members.

Best Regards,

George

You guys simply amaze me. As far as you are concerned no one can ‘ax’ a question unless it meets with your approval.
You guys are sad…
Now that you bring it up, the question has never been answered or even addressed, so let me ask it plain. Answer it if you will….
Why was the JAX Z1 not used as advertised, and replaced with a cheaper knock off?

That question has been asked by others several times and never once answered.

Kindest regards, even to the ‘haters’……. :+1:

EDIT : 16 May 2016 19:25

The bottom line is this…. as of the time of this edit it still says it is a JAX Z1 in the OP of the original Cometa thread.

So I honestly don’t see how it is being a “troll” for anyone to question why it is not? Would you please explain that to me

Would you please explain also why tarver, or anyone else for that matter; is not entitled an answer to that question? Several have asked.

IF an answer, any answer; had been given days ago… we would not be having this conversation.

[ Please note, the original thread is locked… I could not “quote”. I copied and pasted the relevant parts about the JAX Z1. I do have the pages saved another way also, but have no idea how to post those . ;)]

UPDATE 01-05-2016

  1. ~
I will remember that i have NEVER requested a 17 mm driver but a 22 one because of the dimension of the JAX Z1 pill in fact if this had been respected this problem never happen.

Omg teacher. Why’d you make yourself the Cometa police? Seriously man get over it already. Forget your questions. Things happened, oh well. It’s done. Drop it already.

248 posts and 80% is you whining about the Cometa.

By no means is the following intended to stir controversy. It will be my only post to the subject but my hope is that some questions get answered (and unfortunately I do not have any further answers than what is written so please do not ask). I have been MIA for a while due to illness and a death in the family. You can see when all that began as I fell of the face of the earth and did not post or have any contact with anybody - even the Kronos Team.

Way back, at the inception of the CPFi light, I was invited by Cyberescudo to join CPFItalia. Since Cyberescudo ("CR" for short) had kindly supported us here at BLF I thought that it was only right to reciprocate to our Italian friends (actually after-Greeks ). It was I that suggested to CR that he post on BLF and that I would help promote the light and the team would assist in examining and reviewing the sample because of our prior GB experience. To my knowledge it was the first CPFi light and they deserved reciprocation. It was also to my knowledge CR's first custom group buy. I was the contact on this end for CR but he did have access to Neal because the light rightfully was his idea.

At that time, as we do every year, CNY caused a bunch of delays, the primary was getting a sample(s). Not long after CNY I had my own personal issues that took me out of the scene, as well as the others from Kronos because again I was CR's contact. I feel bad for CR to have endure all of this because I honestly do feel that had I (we) been more involved then we could have possibly headed off some problems that the Kronos team had already experienced. Unfortunately, Neal does not have the knowledge that we have and it is unfair to expect hm to have that knowledge (but he is better versed than most vendors). So, you see in short, we never received any sample and with myself gone CR was left to deal with all by himself. What exactly transpired between then and now I do not know as I have yet to speak to CR (still playing catch-up) but no matter what it really makes no difference at this point.

This much I do know.....

It is great that everyone keeps reminding everyone and CR that this is NOT any of his doing BUT in dredging this all up over and over I know that he does feel bad and even embarrassed. CR is a good guy and with all the effort that he put in he should have received a product with fewer problems. I hope that after my post there is no more talk of anything other than "how-to". We are better and CR deserves better than a constant reminder that things did not go quite as planned.

I also know that with these custom GB's that the money gets cut way too close...so much so that when there are mistakes there is no room. In my opinion, when Manker (or whomever) gets bad product from the machine shop then the machine shop needs to suffer the loss but that must be taken into account when setting the price. I have been involved in a few of the GB's here on BLF and for the most part they have been successes for all parties (including buyers) regardless of issues.

I do not think that this CPFi light is any different. CR did very well with this light. It is the first mass-produced light of its kind to utilize specific things that we want....for only $40. Are there issues, yes. Should there be, no. (I do not have one yet). These GB's are not for the faint of heart and they are not $300 one-offs either. As with every GB, you can be sure that there will be changes for the better as it is always a learning experience. As for Manker, yes, we are looking for manufacturers that will entertain our desires.

Last, for Tarver and Teacher - I can assure you all that Cyberescudo, Kronological, DB Custom, JohnnyMac, ToyKeeper, Neal, and myself...Bugsy36 are all different people living in different parts of the world.

Who made you the thread police? He made a thread, oh well get over it!

I find some very interesting questions here… first and foremost is I was under the impression based on Cyberescudo’s posts that the 17mm driver and pill as a complete surprise. However, it clearly was approved for the final sample. Pretty interesting revelation in my mind!

I made myself the thread police. :stuck_out_tongue: Just like teacher made himself the Cometa police.

And he hasn’t just made a thread, he’s made many. And MANY MORE posts. A few times here and there is okay, but this much is incredibly annoying.

Once again, we have Teacher, Tarver, & Brett H combining as in previous Cometa threads to ensure that this thread gets locked too.

Thank you teacher for all your efforts. It appears it is in good faith and the time involved must have been intense. Anyway, I lately just received my 2 lights and here’s my 2 cents worth of information. My first impression was quite honestly a serious letdown. When I found time to finally get online to see what’s up, wow was my Cometa bubble popped. I don’t really have enough time for me to take a much needed rest, let alone find time to try and research what all this deception is about. Something isn’t right I’m guessing :open_mouth:

I have ONE question only, and thank you for your reply, Are these or aren’t these the agreed upon product and specs I paid for?

For the record, mine are marked “manker” internally, extremely sloppy focal threads.
Enough said I think, but more issues can be added if needed. These lights of course have more :frowning:

Deeamn!

If the thread is that annoying then there is a simple solution; don’t read it.

Some find it informative especially in the context of what can be learned for future group buys, unless of course, the hyper-sensitive folks rear their ugly heads to defer blame where is does not belong.

Once again we have keengeorge whining about an incredibly small number of members interested in discerning how the GB can be a better process for ALL involved.
