Does anyone know what happens to the price of this flashlight? Tonight, its price in the official Sofirn store on Aliexpress was $ 104 (94 Euro), now it is – $ 71 (64 Euro). What is the discount for forum participants? From what amount should it be considered?

From the first post:

> For the BLF LT1 lantern, ( without-batteries) the GB price is to be $49.99 USD. > For the BLF LT1 lantern, (with four sofirn 3000mAh 18650 batteries) the GB price is to be $62.99 USD.

Yes, on Amazon I paid $49.69 plus local tax ($4.29) with the code they pm'ed. It's not on Prime however, says in stock, arriving Nov 7 - Dec 2, hoping it will be sooner.

Instead of participating in the mad frenzy for getting a lantern ordered as soon as possible (I could get trampled), I intend to let Sofirn fill my order when they get to it. It only makes sense since the folks here have gone to all the effort to coordinate the GB for us and I don’t need to try to “cut in line”. Frankly, I don’t undertsand the frenzy at all. It’s been almost 4 years and I’ve gotten along without one in hand for this long, does another month or 2 really mean that much? No, or at least not to me.

Maybe if they are gifts and I need to have them for Christmas, that might make the difference for a shorter delivery time.

Thanks to all involved for doing what you do and also for tolerating the “madhouse” that the GB has become. It’s amazing what volunteers can accomplish and I must admit I couldn’t do what you folks do for us, or I couldn’t do it for any length of time without losing it. I’m trying to say “Thank You!”. (I’m just reading and I’m beginning to lose it, hence this post.)

Calm down folks! After you all trample each other, I’ll step over and around the trampled and bloody bodies and calmly take possession of my lanterns requested in the GB and without the frenzy. You can do the same. Life is so much simpler and longer without the rise in blood pressure and possible adrenalin dump. It’s not life and death, just a light, albeit a very nice light.

I’m guessing that when the second batch lights are ready, we’ll get new links for the sand and green versions. I have my first order code, but I’m waiting on the codes for the lights I added later. So, I probably will just wait to order all together, and I might get colors other than black when I do. As excited as I am, I have to be patient I guess. Innocent

Question here. The batteries, have to be button top? or will any protected 18650 work?

I had no problems with my e-bay order for one without batteries, took about 45min
Looking forward to this one.

I received my 1st order code from Sofirn as well. Order placed, and it will be delivered when it’s delivered.

When on Amazon don’t search for BLF LT1, that will bring you to the Q8 (why?). Instead, search for “BLF LT1 lantern” and it’ll take you right to it.

Does anyone know if the 3000mAh Sofirn batteries offered during the GB are “protected”?

It appears that the cells offered with the GB are these same 3000mah ones available on Sofirn’s AE store, and if so, they are protected. I’d say it’s a safe bet that they are protected.

I have yet to see protected Sofirn cells. None of the Sofirn lights I have came with protected cells. Unless I’m blind the link you supplied is to unprotected cells as well. From my testing Sofirn cells are not something you would buy on purpose. Capacity is OK but only at extremely low amperage. Max amperage is about 2.25 amps which is well horrible.

Well maybe you are blind. The name of the listing is

Quote:
Sofirn Rechargeable 18650 Battery li-ion Battery 3.7V 3000mah 18650 Cell Rechargeable batteries with Protected PCB Board

And the image of the cells has in red text 3000mah 18650 protected battery.

if you buy purchase batteries alone, there are protected version and unprotected version. Since sofirn lights are protected, the KIT is including unprotected batteries.

I wish Sofirn had part numbers on there cells. BTW the language was not set to English and I failed to change it. I now see they are claim to have protection. Looking at the pictures it does look like they have some form of protection on the negative end. Funny how their lights ship with unprotected cells yet some like my SP31 V2.0 recommend in the manual the use of protected cells. Unsure on the others as the manuals use size 1 fonts. Might order a few of these and see if they can put out enough current to even trip the protection circuit. Specs show 6.4 amps continuous. They must be using way better cells than come in their lights. I see no info on the types of protection these cells have, over charge, over discharge, over current and short-circuit.

The first round of orders is limited to one per person. You should expect your offer on 7 to be rejected with a request to lower it to 1.

When the second round is released, you should be able to place multiple lantern orders.

Your correct — That’s exactly what happened.

I did a search for the physical dimensions of cells for this light and came up with nothing. Can anyone help with this? Size restrictions?

TIA.

Wut frenzy? I got a code pm'ed, ordered using the code - no frenzy, no rush, same as many, many BLF group buys before. I'm not bugging anyone here or at Sofirn either - they can ship it when they get it, I'm happy to wait a little more. I'm only on the list for one - want to see it/use it before committing to any more orders. I'm thinking I was one of the first to get a code since I was close to the top of the list at #100.

I didn't see anyone post they received their code yet, so thought I was doing a favor here.

I’m a bit jealous. It will be a week or three yet till I can order, then I’ll have a month or so delay for shipping. Shocked

I’m I understanding this right?
People are purchasing on eBay now without a code and just mentioning their user name in the BLF thread? Then getting a confirmation that is shipped?

Or did I misunderstand some of the previous thread comments.

This group buy is a little different than the FW3A.

I would love that too — but I suspect I’ll have to wait for batch 87 or get some traffic-cone spraypaint.

I don’t see a frenzy either. People are excited after 3 years of watching this being developed. To bad the camping season has past (for me).
I have a code for a LT1 without batteries, I requested another code for the LT1 with batteries.
Four cells for an extra $12 is a good deal to me.

Tom what you don’t see as a frenzy with people scurrying around asking questions about ordering 1 light from Amazon with a generic (as far as I know) supplied code from a post here, I see as a frenzy. Different folks, different perspective, different lives. Doesn’t make either of us wrong as it doesn’t make either of us correct, or at least we’re correct from our individual perspective.

All folks need to do is to wait for Sofirn to PM them with their code when their order comes up. Yes, Sofirn HAS started to send out codes via PM . My first light was something like #179(?) and I got my first order code. That light has been ordered using that code and I posted that for anyone to read here:

With one very specific exception, the batteries need to be button top.
I’m unfamiliar with any protected batteries that are not button top, but there are button top that are not protected.

The exception – Sanyo NCR18650GA. It’s a flat top, but the top extends …just… past the insulation and will work with a multi-cell spin top light like the LT1 or Q8.

Just for the record, there was never a “generic code” posted in this thread that folks could use to buy a LT1 from amazon.
Sofirn clearly stated in this very thread in this post how to purchase from ebay or Ali, and in this post that Sofirn had started to send out amazon single use codes. Prior to Sorfin sending out amazon single use codes, SigShooter sent out a group of amazon single use codes. Things got a bit weird for a bit, and Sofirn, bless their hearts, took on the burden of dealing with this task from SigShooter.

Good question. This will be my first time purchasing something as part of a group buy and I am also a little confused. If we are buying on eBay do we have to wait or can we make the offer now?

The thing is that I could have sent out all the codes in 10 hours of so if I had all 2500+ codes (up to 2840 right now). And it wouldn’t have been a big burden since the process was automated other than loading the supplied codes into my database and then running a script to merge and extract a file to feed the program. Maybe 30 minutes tops to do that.

Oh well, sending out codes manually is obviously labor intensive and also prone to mistakes.

I don’t want one from the first batch, so I don’t care if there are “line jumpers”. I’m above #500 for all my LT1’s anyhow. Mostly because I don’t want the terrible and inaccurate manual that’s included in the first batch for lanterns I’m giving as gifts.

Why the manual didn’t get sorted out before the first batch is beyond me. I guess there just wasn’t enough time in the 3.5 years of development. Even after myself and others took to correcting it still had fundamentally wrong information about the operation of the LT1 because the people who knew how it worked and wrote the software or had samples didn’t bother to review the manual for basic correctness while we were tuning it for readability, grammar, and English.

I also don’t understand why the firmware is still changing. Why couldn’t it get sorted out before the light went into production? Did Sofirn put the light into production without telling anyone as a big surprise?
