Looks like a good idea but totally not overthought. The H03 is compact as well but easy to modify. OK, just don’t glue the bezel or the threads.
BLF version:
please make it 20mm TIR compatible or make a extra TIR model
ad a usable sub 0.5 lumen moon, the current one is too bright for preserving night vision (camping etc.)
use the XM-L2 5D nice rosy tint for the 4000K CCT choice
double press goes to turbo
Seriously, delete that useless strobe mode. It’s as needed as FGM in Africa. Besides the strobe this is a very good muggle UI. Long press shouldn’t be longer then 0.5s however. A good moon/firefly mode is needed for people who don’t want to blind themselves taking a piss at night or don’t want to bother other people. 0.05lm is actually too bright for this.
“0.01%firefly-0.1%moonlight-3%low-30%mid-100%high ,(double-click the switch from off for high); if the flashlight is turned off, press the side switch for 0.5s to enter into firefly mode directly.

I ordered a grey S2+ with a 4000K Ra95 SST20 and 4×7135 driver from Banggood and have received an e-mail from them stating:
“We’re sorry to inform you that the preorder for item ID:1420655 [Gray Convoy S2+ SST20 7135*8 7135*6 18650…] was delayed due to the manufacturing process.”

I will probably have a few questions, if they are not already asked by other members
EDIT:
I already have them (questions, suggestions, requests mixed):

- Currently I don’t know, how the headlamp driver works, only the available modes in the UI. Is the headlamp driver is a buck driver (which converts down from 4.2-3.0V of the battery to the voltage required by the LED, without burning off the excess voltage), so it could be also very good at using low forward voltage LEDs for a prolonged time in low to medium modes? Or that driver works similarly (or identically) to the 7135×N (N: 3,4,6,8) drivers?
- To get the most potential out of this headlamp, access to the LED and optics should be relatively easy (preferably, if a driver would need a replacement in the future, that should be also possible).
- I think, support for TIR lens would be essential for this headlamp, as this can give a great customizability over the form of the light beam – my suggestion would be to support the d=20mm h=12.8mm Yajiamei TIR lens, as they offer a wide range of options.
- A few members already mentioned 18350 tubes. I think, if this headlamp would have 18350 tube as well, it could be a great gift for women – especially, if there will be a few more alternative color for the body (I think, the same red anodization as the S2+ bodies, and the clear anodization variant could be a good starting point).
- I would like to share suggestions about UI for the driver, if you would like to consider them
I much prefer the first Simon’s idea over any big shape (square, diamond, whatever) knurlings that are horrendous (to me) :

I don’t meant to make a smooth surface.
I just want to change a style, on the one hand, it will improve the product yield, on the other hand, keep the original feel of grip.
For example, I can change it to the following:
-
Snap
Agree, that is a tasteful knurling to me
.
I agree, this looks very good!! And Simon has already said it will save him a massive number of battery tubes that have to be scrapped in production. This saves a massive amlunt of money too… it’s a nobrainer to remove the knurling.
Someone mentioned earlier that removing the knurling would negatively effect the S2+‘s “status” as a great light.
They also said the new design was “boring”.
Personally, I think both statements are totally wrong. The “status” of the Convoy S2+ is mostly based on function… great function. A ‘cosmetic’ change will in no way hinder that at all. The S2+ will retain it’s “status” as a great light.
As far as the new look being “boring”. That is simply an opinion. As is the fact that I think it looks great.
I think a smooth look is desirable also. Personally, I have no trouble at all holding a smooth object.
In fact, personally; I’m good & onboard with just about anything Simon decides to do about the battery tube exterior. I figure he will make a good choice, as well as a choice that will simplify the manufacturing process so as to cut down on scrapped parts.
…..
As far as the headlight/right angle light pictured below…. Very Nice!!

Simon, you’re absolutely incredible – I love how you take on all the feedback from the community. Definitely a very good way to keep a loyal customer base
I might wait for an updated H1 with the new UI, but will be placing another order as soon as the S11 drops
Simon, I just received two C8+ with 219C 4000K from you. Please fix the driver on them. Toykeeper will explain what’s wrong.
They have visible PWM on moonlight and all the other modes use a wrong PWM frequency as well. This also makes the configuration mode advance way too fast and have too fast a strobe.
Also, the tint on those emitters is pretty bad. Worst 219C I have personally seen with a duv of 0.0075 on one and 0.0049 on the other. The focus of the reflector is also very different on my two samples.
Any of this doesn’t matter to me personally since these are just going to be a throwier light for calibration of spheres, but someone who actually uses them might not like what they see.
Well, I think that the next version of H1 whith suggested UI, proper modes, tir-compatible,18350 tube, possibility to change Led and charging port will be just awesome. It will be a new Zl killer:)
Simon, I just received two C8+ with 219C 4000K from you. Please fix the driver on them. Toykeeper will explain what’s wrong.
Maukka measured the PWM speed on each mode:
2.25 kHz moon
17.9 kHz low
36 kHz all other modes
The 36 kHz speed means the driver was flashed with the wrong fuse values.
The 2.25 kHz moon means the driver has a very old version of the firmware on it, from 2016, calibrated for nanjg 105d drivers which were never actually used. This was fixed two years ago, along with some other issues.
If at all possible, I would strongly recommend updating to a newer type of driver, perhaps one with two power channels and an attiny25v or attiny85v chip. This would improve performance and allow for a nicer UI. If not though, it would be a good idea to at least update the firmware on the existing drivers.

Poor Simon... Everyone wants knurling, and no knurling. USB charging and no USB charging. Metal button and rubber button. X and not X. Y and not Y. Z and not Z. I think I'd just grab a coupla beers and slide down the emergency chute...
That's only 64 different configs so offer them all, i don't see what the problem is. The easy way out is to just offer the best light ever. I'd buy that, the best light ever (as long as it can take a 21700). Oh wait, you missed battery options, that's 192 different configs... still doable imio. (On a slightly more serious note i'm tempted by the S11 and am looking forward to the 21700 S2+, definitely going to get a couple of them.)
Fastech and Convoy made this combo work and it made convoy a huge success here because it basically let people buy pre-made custom lights .two things that slipped over time has been the better tint options ...and better ano colors . The red green purple blue copper etc were a waste of time imho. The Sand is epic and the new designs are very nice . love the C8 and the S11 Glad to see Simon here and hope he can filter thru all the noise .

I agree with other comments, high CRI would be nice and strobe seems like it could be activated intentionally when changing modes quickly.

Hi Simon,
Many thanks for your frequent participation here and for the great stuff you have for sale.
Some questions:
1. Do you offer the S11 host with SMO and OP reflector or OP only? I would like to order 2 hosts with SMO if possible.

2. Do you see any chance to source high quality bin SST-40 in 5000K? I saw you have 6.500K for sale but neutralwhite would be fantastic.

Hi Simon, a option for TIR Optik with 30/45 degree would be great. Perhaps to change it later.

Hmm… 0.10, 3, 30, 100 is quite odd. 3 lows and 1 high. I would like something more evenly spaced like BLF A6 firmware.
+1 BLF A6 firmware. The ramping UI from the Sofirn C8F covers everone.
