I need to return some DVD rentals I’m going to check my local HD, I have had luck using harbor freight 20% off coupons at that one before. Post back in 2 hours!

Lens is plastic, as is the reflector, which measures 55mm wide (i.d.) by 55mm deep. Just a quick shine outside and I can tell you it might not be quite as bright, but it throws as far as the HD2010! And some pics:

Hi, Richie! Thanks. Sorry, guys - all I have is my iPhone, which does ok for inside shots but in my experience really sucks for beamshots, especially outdoors. I'm going to leave that to someone with a decent camera.

This is definitely a cheepie light, but it's a good spend for a retail light at $23. Good to see the XM-L finally make it into some mainstream box store lights. Thanks for the heads up, Garry!

@weiser: Couldn't agree more on Maglite. I would really love to see what they can do!

@gords: This thing feels like it's made out of lead pipe. Definitely weapons grade and it would cost a fortune to ship across the pond.

I wish it was 3xD!

i suppose a driver swap + a small spacer could make it 2×26650?

Thanks BR for the photos! Any idea if the pill is hollow?  I'll try to check back with the driver diameter soon.

I agree! Why the heck did they go with 3 C's? It's already a monster off a light! With 3D's they could have advertised more runtime too! The Black Friday one made sense to be 3C, but not this one.

I doubt alkaline AA's would push as much current, but NiMh's would be fine.

Because there are lots of cheap 26650 battery tubes now.

Tailcap current on included fresh alkalines: 3.10A very quickly declining to about 2.5A where it continues declining slowly. I wonder how steady NiMh's would be?

Yes plastic reflector and lens dimensions 63.2 Diam x 57.4mm deep. Driver is 20mm press fit. Pill doesn't appear to be hollow. I didn't pull emitter up, but can see plenty of aluminum and plenty of thermal glue.

Damn bright too!  Didn't shine outside yet, but bright as hell inside!

Thanks betweenrides, wish we got defiant brand over here Sad

It certainly sounds like a good potential mod host, it should take one 26650+ spacers, might get to keep it up at 3a for a while that way and retain the 3c capability 8)

A few more photos I took:

Driver = 20mm

Reflector Diameter:

Reflector Depth:

Shot in my hand (for size);

1

Rough Whitewall shot (taken with my phone, for what it's worth, distance to wall approx. 10 feet):

By the way, it was 1°F outside today at the site I worked at.  Windchill at -15°F.  Wasn't too bad really, so long as you dress for it.  I usually jump at the opportunity to get out of the office into the field, but last night I was questioning my sanity at doing so this time!

(P.S.  I'll try to come back with current draw on NiMh cells at a later time.  I might have to charge them up first though.)

Yep, I’m pondering 2 different builds- IF I can find one that is!

lflex plus 3 nimh c cells
lflex plus 1 26650 cut down body

I guess I should have measured inside battery tube diameter and tried a 26650 cell for fit?  Sorry.  Wait!  I have a 26650 (protected TF Flame) at work I can try!  Be right back!

EDIT - Nope!  Won't fit.  Would have to bore the tube slightly.  It can probably be done, but the tube isn't very thick.  This would look like a monster in a single 26650 configuration!

That’d be pretty sick w/ 26650. I wonder who I need to talk to at “Defiant” 8)

Wow, this looks good. Is it really as good a thrower as HD2010???

If so I would be really interested in getting one, I plan to use my nimh with a C adapter to power this up.

If I get a chance I'll try to compare to my Small Sun ZY-T08 (similar throw to an HD2010).  I bet it's close.  And it would make for a heck of a mod with a 3.5A driver and XM-L U3 or XM-L2 (or XP-G2 @ 2.5A)!

Went there over lunch,
none to be found in the aisles with the deals displays,
and none by the flashlights (which were near the power tools area)

I assume this one is the old one ?
Defiant 500 Lumen Tactical Flashlight

What’s the SKU for the light of this thread ?
