Looks like one of the LB clones to me. Should be a decent fit for this light… Oops

I ordered a Titanium Gray colored version on ebay for $ 4.54 USD that they lists to have a cree XP-E, (but i’m sure it will come with a LB clone.) i bought it to do a mod with it anyways so the LB led will be trashed regardless. Will know more once it arrives.

Hmm…it seems Cree finaly releaced the new XML3 (straight U4 bin), can be found in Bangood Meco C8 flashlight

No wonder they announce it as 2k lumens and 4amps, but i think its underdriven

I am so happy that i ordered 3 pcs of that flashlight! Love

Here are a few more photos to add some to the mix.  In this case, the 100% genuine Cree XM-L2 U3 2A has very little stippling.  All of these are real Cree LEDs.

Here are some pics of a lattice bright XM-L2. Seller assured me before sale the touch had a genuine cree XM-L2. Main difference I see is they are missing the spot in the corner. Ignore the ring on the close it, its just the led reflection from the microscope.

At least they were kind enough to print their name on the board. That kind of helps with the whole “This is a counterfeit, not a Cree!” argument.

nice photos of the XM-L2 versus the fake LB version, again the Latticebright seems to have the square pads beneath the bond wire connections like i their fake XM-L clones. Also as noted above, the LB fake in those photos don’t have the dot in the corner of the substrate outside the dome.

I bought a couple of XP-G2’s from Ebay. They looks real Cree to me from the light output and tint. Just curious if there are any fake G2s out there yet?

Guys, on the right is genuine (used) XP-G2 R3 WW, known good, bought from lck_led

on the left is XP-G2 neutral white, bought from Ebay dealer 2012topdeal

the lens on the left one is visibly smaller, and the silver substrate is "smooth" while the genuine one has kinda "rough" one.

Can you tell me whether it's fake or not?

UPD: Yep, I bought 5 fakes!

Supposed fake XP-G2

This one has a fake LB XP-E
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hot-2000-LM-CREE-Q5-LED-Mini-Flashlight-Torch-Lamp-Light-Gold-18650-Battery-WT-/191716410912?hash=item2ca3304620:g:SMEAAOSwhcJWH3bV
Beware

In fact, you can easily tell them – the genuine has a dot in the corner, and the “border” around the three stripes is bigger.

Bought this from wholeup.

Thank you

judging by the smooth substrate coating, the square pads beneath the bond wires it looks like a LB LED. (fake LED) it the tint & output seems to be more blueish & harsher then its likely a fake.
EDIT: – I am noticing an unusual non-consistient edge to the phosphor coating over the die on that one too, adding to the lower quality control of the fake Crees.

I have an LB XP-E and it looks much different than this one, the two tiny rectangles in the corners are placed diffenently. I’l try to make a close up pic of the fake.

It’s likely LB has been “throwing wrenches” into their LED designs, (meaning they are making them with slight differences even for the same type/model,) to possibly throw off people who are suspecting their operations with this large fake Cree scam from easily identifying their fake leds from the real ones.

Or it must be a fake lb led which is a fake of cree led. Fakeception

Everything about that ebay ad is a scam. ( seller has no feedback, the photos don’t add up, (photos of zoomie beamshots for a reflector-based light) the LED is obvious LB, and comes with a ridiculous claim of 5800mah 18650 cell, all for only $6.52.
Ebay is a place nowadays where 90 % or more of the products you buy are fakes, copies, scams, rip-offs, re-brands, etc. unless your familiar with a honest seller that you have bought from before.

Now that Ebay is a place of full fake products, why don’t you guys buy products from other electronics distributor? As we know, eBay is not professional at this filed.

No, it was just to show you the flashlight, I bought it from another dealer called lan-yrd who has good feedback.

Still, I wanted to swap it to an XP-G2, and now I learned I replaced it with a fake XP-G2!
