Earlier today I put an LD-1 in one of the host X6’s (arrived today) along with a brand new fresh out of the tape XP-L V6 3D emitter. Even with a rested and used lap pull Samsung 26C it makes 3.85A from the LD-1 for 1283 lumens, the Pan BD makes 4.28A for 1497 lumens and an Efest 35A will do 4.95A for 1642 out the front.
With Wights driver, which I am using now almost exclusively, good cells will produce 1700 lumens and then some. Techie or not, if you’re here THAT should inspire! If the XP-L V6 makes 1640 from 5A, the A17DD-S08 will do more. When you see it, you’ll appreciate 7 modes.
This is very interesting Dale, i remember that you said that this could be the case when this whole high Vf on the XM-L2 U3 showed it self a while ago but this is the first time i have seen any notice that this in fact could be the case, this very good news if we could confirm that most XP-L V6 is this easily driven hard.
I hoped your theory would turn out to be true, so i almost only bought V6 3D for some future builds, so this is some very nice news.
@bugsy36, Do we know the XP-L lumens bin we will get in this light?
Cajampa - As of this moment the bin is unknown. No inquiries to the bins have even been made specifically because we are waiting for the stock production lights to arrive. Also, keep the following in mind.
Most of the XP-L's that I have seen are 2C and 3D. To ME the 2C already appears to have a warmer tint than that of the usual 1A/B or 2B but is referred to as CW.
EE was really good about the tints for the X6-SE and to me it is not an issue until what we see what their "usual XP-L is" and people can decide what they want AND if EE can actually provide it.
Tints are a moot point until the people involved can show what the driver truly is or isn't capable of even though I have the utmost confidence in the A17DD-SO8 driver (because I have actually used it and even lost two lights, and EE and an S2, to my GF and a coworker because of this driver - glad they were impressed but sort of sucks too. LOL).
Until the lights arrive I am doing everything possible to avoid stirring the pot with debates.
I will say that if this light/driver combination does not do what I think is possible I will be surprised but I do not think that will be the case and even though I am the one pursuing this GB the real testing is not being done by me (other than temps and using at work) for the purpose of a fair evaluation. With that...even though I am pursuing this..it would most definitely NOT be possible without the cooperation and help of the others (and no, I am not saying unless they so choose to out themselves earlier

bugsy36, your answer was about the hue bin, i asked about what lumens bin EE are using for this light, i would guess a V4, but maybe hope for something higher like the V5 or V6, on the BLF X6 they used a XM-L2 U2 the second highest lumens bin for the XM-L2.
Personally i don’t worry about the hue bin as long as there will be a NW or WW option.
My mistake. That seems to be what everybody is asking. I honestly do not know whether V4, V5, or V6 yet. I figured wait til the lights get here - test - verify with EE and BG what we have - then see what is readily available.

1. Maximum mode – what will be the output current?
2. Why for Flashlight 7 modes? EDCLED Flashlight – better 4 modes (without strobe), for example “ ◦2. Approximate PWM levels of each mode: Example: (1) 2% – (2) 15% – (3) 40% – (4) – 100% “
Q1. Maximum mode – what will be the output current?
Will depend on the battery used and whether or not the end user performs a spring bypass. EE is not going to do a spring bypass. That will be up us individually. For a clearer explanation of a DD driver read the description on RMM's website for his BLF17DD or Wight's A17DD-SO8 driver thread
Q2. Why for Flashlight 7 modes? EDCLED Flashlight – better 4 modes (without strobe), for example “ ◦2. Approximate PWM levels of each mode: Example: (1) 2% – (2) 15% – (3) 40% – (4) – 100%
Because the battery chosen will change the output levels, 7 modes are required to ensure everybody can find a usable mode for whatever the current task is at hand. The PWM levels have not been decided yet and really do not matter because this driver will be able to be flashed to an end user's preferred UI. If one does not or cannot currently flash firmware it can be performed by any number of BLF'ers around the world. I do not do it myself, and may never, but it does not seem to be that difficult. For certain we will have the highest "High" and the lowest "Low" that this driver allows.
Still fine, still on a break. One day I’ll catch up with you folks! previous wight catchup
list of my drivers & variants (A17DD, FET+1 stuff, WIP stuff, etc)
Wait, I knew that!
Man I can forget to bring my own arse along for the ride…
Wow, me too I guess. I’ve been following this thread the whole time thinking it was an XM-L. Reading is fundamental.
I’m in for a CW.

Please put me down for 1NW and 1CW. Thank you folks for the effort on this!
I’ll put myself in for a neutral.
I do horrible things to electronics in an effort to get them to do what I want.
Bugsy, are the samples on their way or still being designed/ proto’ed?
They are being shipped but in stock form. We will change the drivers here for ease and to show what is. They already come with XPL.

Who would build the drivers for the release?
1 for me please. NW
I’d be in for one NW please.
Take it price includes shipping and shipping to countries other than the USA won’t be an issue?

I am interested in a CW one.
What informations can you give us so far?
Final price if 500 not reached? Free shipping worldwide?
Most of the available info is in the first post of the thread. Other info is scattered throughout the thread and not as easy to find, but there.
Interested in a CW one.
Hank - the production run that will be installed in the BLF version of the A6 will be handled by EE.
Chicken Drumstick - shipping will be just as shipping for the X6-SE.
Newland - I do not have any confirmation on "less than" prìcing.
