Wait, the BLF X6 SE lights are worth more than we originally paid for them? If so, why?
Yes, they actually are worth more than we paid. In fact, they were worth more already when we bought them. These lights will be even more so. The fact is that people in some parts of the world, such as here in the USA, are used to paying a lot and not getting a lot. Last I looked, Lowe’s had a 1000 lumen light for ~$60 or so. Well, we can buy 1000 lumen lights all the time for half that, and they look better and are better quality than those at Lowe’s. With these Group Buys, the idea is to get an even better deal than normal, by the power of buying in bulk. For the promise of hundreds of sales, the retailer and the manufacturer are willing to work with us to lower the price and/or upgrade the lights. I expect in general, a person could get over $250USD for the V2 Aluminum set, especially if they included a decent 4-cell charger and 2 IMR 18650’s and 2 IMR 14500’s. That is quick money. You could sell lots of sets that way, I’m sure. With the right set of circumstances, and the right buyer, you could get a whole lot more than that for it. There are people that regularly pay hundreds of dollars for one flashlight that won’t have the brightness or the features that the X6 V2 will have.
I understand the economy of flashlights and what you pay in the store for a light. I mean why is the BLF edition here worth more than the standard one? I’m not talking big picture stuff. I have this light and think it’s nice, but why were people flipping this particular light?
If you talk anything up and are good at it, you can sell anything. There are a few “brands” like SK68s that get people to buy them for $50, just a regular light you can buy for $3 on sale. Higher price does not = better. At least if some people were selling the BLF lights for a bit more they were getting a good light for near its value rather than an OK light for minimum 10x the price with the SK68 light.
I understand the economy of flashlights and what you pay in the store for a light. I mean why is the BLF edition here worth more than the standard one? I'm not talking big picture stuff. I have this light and think it's nice, but why were people flipping this particular light?
Aside from selling something that people do not know what we know....
Cost of base unit plus cost of additional parts
Can "I"do it without screwing it up (I originally felt that way and sometimes still do)
Wanting a light engraved as BLF Special Edition or Special Edition anything ...like in the automotive business "limited" "super sport" etc.
The X6-SE would easily cost $40 when you add the additional parts and then you would have to do it. The BLF A6 is very similar.
The SS K6v2 and the Cu K6 add a very custom dimension that goes into the hundreds for a one-off even the aluminum models with their limited availability will be a deal and a steal.
This at the very least

Krono – To start off with you only need to update those with: Status = ‘Approved’ / Updated = ’N’.
After the first update it will only be a case of the new additions to this list which need updating.
All – if there are any above still with Status = ‘Pending’, and it had already been agreed by private PM only, please feel free to PM that individual again and kindly request they post a short Approval of the position swap on the thread for us to record. They could reference your original request post number, else simply which Al/CuSS list and what positions are being moved.
Any mistakes or omissions please let me know.
All position swaps should be discussed and agreed by PM first to help prevent unwanted spam in the thread. Then BOTH parties must post their requestANDapproval on the thread. I will then endeavour to update the swap list in this post every other evening.
Hope this is useful, please feedback if there is anything I can add or change to make it easier to track.
Keep shining,
Hirsh

As stated previously, it is likely to be a logisitical nightmare…so please don’t expect it! We will do our best to make it happen, but, ultimately, it is about the lights, not S/N placement.
Keep in mind that these lights will be Serial Numbered…so…the sooner you get you name on the list, the lower the S/N you will receive!
I shouldn’t be in your chart, that post was just asking to be added to the aluminum list for 2 sets in addition to the 3 Al/Cu sets. 66 and 67 just happened to be the numbers the list was at.
As are many of you, I am a member both here and at “the other forum”.
Wouldn’t it be nice if we could just say what we really think and feel over there without fear of retribution?
Let’s say a guy comes on there with a question: “Which light should I buy? – This $75 light, or this $85 light?… Which do you think is the best light, and the best deal?”
Then I could say something like: “Hey!… Have you heard that there is another forum called the ‘Budget Light Forum’? – When first visiting there I thought: “Why all the excitement about a bunch of Cheap A$$ $5, Junk lights?”… Then, as I began to dig deeper into their threads I saw that it’s not like that at all. – I saw that sometimes it really is All about the Money, while other times it’s about the Cutting Edge, and for a fair price to boot! – I perceived that if you don’t really wish to know all about lights on a deeper level and just want a good light that works, price aside, then one of the forums May be better than the other, though both have mixed content. I have found that BLF may “in parts” be too technical for some, but then there are other parts too. – Truly something for Everyone at BLF!”
.
BUT – Please pardon me, for I have digressed – My answer to the $75/$85 light question simply would be:
.
BLF X6-SE v2 GB !!!
.
TWO Lights for 1/2 the price, Plus Blinding Output, and an UI to die for! – Not to even mention the opportunity to meet many new and Interesting People!
.
But if I were to post such ‘Blasphemy’ on the “other forum”, I would surely be drawn and quartered:-(
Due to having my wedding booked for the 13th of August, I’d like to keep the #13 s/n. My apologies to ahirshy!
No probs mizjif – have updated my own Al request to ‘Rejected’! Coincidentally this leaves me at position 26, which is MY wedding anniversary in June. Just celebrated our 10-year anniversary. So actually feeling okay sticking with that number for the same reason as you.

Cool, I’ll make sure to note this for mattlward’s request against position 19. I will split it out into a separate request for his remaining request for position 18 to make it clearer.

Add one Al WW please. If possible, would like to be #81. Thanks.
You’re added at position 80 for this Al just because of your early timing. I’ll note it as a ‘Blank’ request in the table as there is technically nobody to swap with yet! Unless the next person for an Al specifically wants 81, Krono may just put the next requester into position 80 and shift you down to 81. (I’m born in 1981, so I would like it – but I’ve got enough for now. If the GB makes it past 1000 units, I’ll try for position 1981!!)

Sure, I can remove the record if you want no problem. You only appeared in the list because you mentioned positions 66 & 67 in your post. (It sounded specific, so I didn’t know whether you wanted those exact positions). As there was nobody else in those numbers, I left it as ‘Approved’ and the record was just there for posterity and reference incase someone else wanted the positions.
Is this even relevant anymore? I thought getting assigned serial numbers wasn’t going to happen?
I think it is still relevant, as long as it is not perceived as a guanateed serial number and instead only a “position in the list (which might, however unlikely, transpire into the serial number)”.

Krono said ‘We will do our best to make it happen’, so until we discover that there will be absolutely no chance of preferred serial number positions, or are told they have absolutely no bearing from list numbering, I have agreed to keep track of requests and approvals for Krono to update is master list without too much overhead or littering posts.
From a personal opinion, I totally empathise with both perspectives; some people are interested in their position and numbering for any given/bizarre/weird/petty/superstitious reasons (which is up to them). Whilst others will not care about such minor things, or even understand the rationale. I myself am not superstitious or attribute any illogical meaning to numbers, but I do agree and understand that some numbers will be more meaningful or resonate more with a particular person (ie. Birthdays, Anniversaries, Wedding dates, ages, house numbers, etc). It makes sense that these numbers will just mean more to some people because of their attributions.
If people want to express preference and it opens friendly discussions, PMs, chats, etc between like-minded BLF fans, then I’m only too happy to help keep track of it. It is also just another reason to keep interest in the GB high (as if the amazing lights by themselves weren’t enough!! haha).
These will be widely sought after after all is said and done, though knowing you, you are probably just planning on just giving them away for Christmas:-)
Chuck, one could always give away the pretty SS X6 and keep the Cu K6 for one’s own selfish reasons.

Right you are Dale – Nice Idea!

I had thought of that – but really shivered at the thought of breaking up a serial-matched set! I’ll just keep the SS-CU set and giveaway the AL sets as gifts to couples. That way it’s a truly matched set (same material), I get to count it as two gifts, yet they are not really separated!

Interest list is almost even for SS/Cu vs. Al. Closing in at quantities of 100 of each. We will obviously hit the minimums for the Al version!
The SS/Cu is almost half the way there…and without even a sample yet! I don’t think we will have any problems hitting minimums, with positive results from the samples, of course.
Manker and samples: I wanted to let everybody know that samples are being assembled as we speak! Manker has been chosen to help design and produce the X6-SE v2. We chose Manker because of a strong combination of their technical expertise, design and quick turn-around times.
As far as a time estimate, I would say that we are 2-4 weeks out for completion of initial samples. This is blazing fast, especially when we are talking about completely new host materials (SS/Cu) :exmark:
Once we have samples in our hands, we will know much more about specs and implementation of our ideas.
Stay tuned!

As this was done for xelario (pos.88 above), it could probably have been done for Nguyen’s request for pos.81 too, as that was also empty at the time. It’s fair for him to swap with tizzo as his request for 81 was first and would have been in that spot before tizzo was added.
Sounds great Krono, exactly why I got on board. There are some great minds involved in this. Let’s hope it will stay as a limited edition. 200 sets worldwide
